The river of time
belongs to everyone.
Gazing from high to low,
I realise that the current
of the water brings to the surface
the waste that we, today’s people, have
jettisoned.
The river bears it away.
The city remains silent, dumb,
doors and windows closed.
The empty terraces are clean.
The river of time bears
witness to out inertia
as guardians
of our world.
